FundMyFotos.com is a social funding company that provides the only no cost alternative to expensive professional photography. The service is a specialised social networking website that provides fundraising for individuals who have a strong desire to become a successful model, and donors who wish to make a difference in their lives.

How It All Began

FundmyFotos.com began when I, Damien Morley, a professional photographer based in London, began looking into ways of providing funding options for my portfolio packages.

Working with some of the worlds largest publishers, every day I receive many emails asking for my rates for portfolios from models and prospective models. I send back my rates with a covering letter and frequently receive the same response. Although the model is desperate for my portfolio package, they can not afford the prices due to other financial commitments.

99% of the time the models include snap shots of themselves and very often they have a lot of potential to become great models.

Due to the expense of running a studio in london and a family, it is impossible for me to work on a TFCD, Syndication or On Spec basis so these potential Next Top Models slip through the net never to be seen of heard of again.

After working with some model/presenters I learned that many of them had what is called a wish-list. A list of products that fans and admirers could purchase and sent in as a gift.

While I understood the potential of this method of acquiring products and services I was dubious as to whether fans and admirers would be so keen to fund photoshoots.

The incentive of a point based donation service is that fans and admirers can now contribute any amount, big or small to the future success of a models career. There is no minimum point donation, nor is there a maximum.

Models are also more likely to converse with potential donors when the reward for doing so not only helps them achieve their desired portfolio but in the process builds their fan base.

With the concept in place I began to chat with fellow professionals about the site and they all seemed very keen to be involved. So rather than take donations simply for my own portfolios. I decided to open it up to all the professional photographers I hold in high regard.
